Our little clipper that brought showers to Southern Illinois - TopicsExpress

Our little clipper that brought showers to Southern Illinois Sunday has big plans for the Northeast. Passing off the coast of the Mid-Atlantic Monday evening, the storm system will rapidly intensify as it begins up the East Coast as a NorEaster. One key to this storm system is the position of that low as it is expected to travel just off the coast of the Northeast. The other key to this storm system is the Arctic high pressure positioned over Newfoundland that is pushing cold air into the Northeast. Combined these two features will bring very heavy snow and strong winds in Philadelphia, New York, and Boston Monday evening and throughout the day Tuesday. Blizzard warnings have been posted for New York and Boston, extending north along the coast of Maine. Traveling to New England is highly discouraged through the middle of the week. Usually, I try to keep my Facebook posts local, but its not everyday we can tie a small rain event in our area to a blizzard in the Northeast.
