Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future. No matter what school of thought you subscribe to, or how you may have been taught to view life and its many layers and complexities, one of the few universal truths remains in every epic love story, every fight for survival, every act of redemption. Everybody needs somebody. As i enter my 27th year in this world i feel the spark of enlightenment, and a drive that i thought had long since left me, to thrive. Through this past year i felt boundless joy i never thought imaginable, despair that nearly brought me to the brink of my existence, and everything in between. Intense is the word that comes to mind when i think of the series of events that have brought me to where i am now. But i realize, i am both on my own, and never alone. Whoever you are, someone out there, loves you. And you are deserving of it. Love, is the purest of all driving forces that makes life worth living, worth fighting for, surviving for, enjoying all that makes up our lives. Its not that i watched too many sappy childrens movies, or that Im a hopeless romantic, or that i have unrealistic expectations...It is that my heart is open. No matter my missteps or what hurt i may have endured, my heart is open, and it will remain so. Even in times of doubt, this is the most honest way i can live my life, and i may be cautious, but never fully guarded, because if i am i may miss out on something significant. We are all connected, in one way or another, thats what i believe. Keep an open heart and an open mind, because blood does not make a family. Love makes a family, and i look forward to the future of an ever growing family
