Our local Authority is undertaking a review of the services it provides for Special Education Needs and/or Disabilities. As a parent/carer who recieves this service, they are keen to hear my views about it. Hold my coat. Then hold me back. I jest. Whilst I havent chosen to opt out of being contacted so I can chuck a dose of honesty their way, I doubt very much that my details will be passed on to the independent company, they will be paying to conduct the telephone survey. Not when I think its an injustice that so many SEN kids are going without an education, because there isnt adequate provision. Or we cant rely on the same taxi/driver/escort turning up every day, causing war to break out. Or when this very same department had to apologise to me following their mistakes, with just the right amount of reassurance that no other family would suffer in the way that we did, only for me to read about them being taken to court, for a similar injustice, quite recently. I take my hat off to that Mum, by the way, if only for standing up for her child and saying This is wrong. Or when one of the questions they will be asking, is *What do you like about about the support provided to you Like ? Bloody like ? Why did nobody tell us we had to like it ? Shame. I do love deep, meaningful conversations with independent companies who may well be having their services paid for, with money that would be better spent elsewhere.
