Our machine of the week is the... Squat This machine will strengthen the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and iliopsoas. The correct way to use it is... • Stand with feet shoulder width apart. • Grasp the handles lightly, don’t press down hard. • Maintain good posture along your spine for the entire movement. • Extend your bottom back as you slowly lower to a comfortable position resisting gravity. (Spell S-L-O-W) • Keep your knees over top of your feet as you squat. Avoid letting the knees cave in to the middle. • Knees will come forward but don’t let them pass your toes. • Power up quickly but avoid locking out your knee joints. Remember to... • Squat slowly as you resist gravity and burn more calories. (Spell S-L-O-W) • Power up quickly to overload those muscles! • Move through your full range of motion
