Our march towards standardized testing in our public schools is nothing more than us marching right off of a cliff. We need to return to the days when school curriculum involved actual learning and not merely teaching our students how to succeed on a standardized exam. Standardized exams are not a sound indicator of academic progress. As your next State Representative, I will work to reverse the trend of relying on standardized exams and advocate for a curriculum that will teach our children valuable life skills, how to be adept critical thinkers, while preparing them for the 21st century workforce. Teaching our children how to be productive and engaged citizens along with teaching them skills they will need to thrive in our modern economy, are not mutually exclusive. It can be done and I will champion such a cause if you elect me to represent you in Harrisburg.
