Our newest release - Duet, from Flying Leap Vineyards. This is a delightful composition of Symphony & Viognier wines. 100% Willcox-grown, our Duet blend has a seductive essence of apricots & citrus blossoms and flavors of honey, peaches and lavender. Best served chilled, Duet is utterly delicious & refreshing. Symphony is a Californian crossing of Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris developed in 1948 (but not commercially released until 1982) by the late Harold Olmo, professor of viticulture at the University of California, Davis. Symphony is an aromatic varietal with slightly spicy flavors. Symphony is mostly used in white-wine blends, where it contributes aroma & body. Flying Leap Vineyards & Distillery was founded in 2010 by three former military pilots who shared a goal of establishing a vibrant new wine company based on quality, self-sourced viticulture and excellent, disciplined winemaking. Our first vines were planted in 2011 in the Willcox region of southeastern Arizona, where the elevation, soil and microclimate are ideal for growing wine grapes of exceptional character for making ultra premium wines. The initial acreage quickly expanded, and our Blocks 1 & 2 vineyards in the Kansas Settlement now comprise more than 31,000 vines in full production on the bench. We also grow a small estate vineyard in Elgin, Arizona in the Sonoita AVA, which is where we make our wine. Duet was blended & bottled by Flying Leap Vineyards, but the individual wines comprising Duet were made by Sam Pillsbury, one of Arizonas most lauded and respected winemakers.
