Our news says we are in the worst drought in this valley since Civil War times. I have been praying about this for a while. Today my Bible reading was in the last part of Leviticus. Please allow a paraphrase for brevity. God says that if Israel forsakes His laws he will send drought. If they follow His laws He will send them rain in its due time. I dont know what happened to global warming, but I am amazed at the freakish weather we are having all over our land. Have you noticed that? So ... since my faith in prayer is sooo much stronger when I am praying in agreement with God I need to be praying and working toward an arousal of conscience in our society rather than asking for rain. The problem is not just that we are wealthy and naughty. Our governments are passing laws (read arbitrary rules) that oppose or prohibit expressions of belief in God and opening the doors for immoral behavior and behavior that will bring more addictions and the irresponsible behavior that follows. Now they have to make even more liberty crippling laws to limit those permitted behaviors and cost more money that we dont have to lock them up and feed them. Now our government is not able to govern because it is run by people whose best ability is shown in getting elected by to ruining the reputation of their opponent. They are attempting to herd us like animals because the foundations for justice, mercy and progress are destroyed by rules to appease the favored group. I will be asking God to do whatever it takes to arouse the collective conscience of our nation. God help me - and others - to be as resolved and bold as Elijah.
