Our next meeting will be at 7 PM, July 21st, at our usual location, the Kathleen and Robert Lawther Center, 16024 Madison Avenue, Lakewood. We will have much to discuss after our annual show. Several of our members were also entered in the Rocky River Senior Art Show. Our guest artist demonstrator will be Maxwell G. Miller, a contemporary expressionist artist. He will do a cityscape including a body of water, in either oil or acrylic, and there will be a raffle. Charlotte says all of his works are 40 by 40 inches or larger. He has a remarkably well organized web site at maxwellgmiller. Check it out and I’m sure you will be eager to see his demonstration. Our Last Meeting Our last meeting was Thursday June 16th at the usual time and location. It was June, so of course, our guest artist was our own Bob Moyer. I was not able to attend but I am told he gave his usual excellent presentation painting a perfect rose in watercolor. There was a raffle. I do not have the winner’s name at this point but I am sure it wasn’t Charlotte. Reminders and Special Notices The Rocky River Senior Center Art Exhibit & Sale continues until July 25th. You will find works from several of our members there. Be sure to check out the Best of Show watercolor, “A Boat in Dry Dock” by Howard Hoehn. Check out cliffsideartistscollaborative.org online. You will find a museum-gallery in Hinkley and winter and summer workshops. You will find names we know among the instructors. Bob Moyer has a workshop on August 11, 2014 and Cathy Welner, who has been a guest demonstrator, also has a workshop in August. The Lakewood Art Fest is the first week in August and the Amherst “Art in the Village” Festival is September 20th. You can still check us out online. Put in Lakewood Art League and several sites on Facebook will pop up. You do not need to be a member of Facebook to check these out. News of Our Members Jack Botten has been ill but is feeling much better. We expect to see him at the meeting. Also out of commission during our busy art show time was your newsletter person, with a broken ankle and computer. The computer is fixed but the ankle may take a little while longer. Mary Bodnar, our busy membership chairman, and Vibrant Wind Dancer and Director, is teaching a dance class on Wednesdays. Bob Moyer will have Summer Paint Along session at the Rocky River Senior Center on August 18th from 1 to 4 PM.and he is at the Group 10 Gallery in Kent along with Bernie D’ettorre through July. Bernie is also at the Sparrow Gallery in Lodi and the Lakeside Gallery. Paul Collander’s showing at the North Olmsted City Hall continues through this month.
