“Our outer man is decaying, but our inner man is being renewed - TopicsExpress

“Our outer man is decaying, but our inner man is being renewed day by day” (2Cr 4:16). Beloved, on the one hand you are you, but on the other hand you are not you. How can that be??? Whether a child of God or not, every human being on earth has a flesh and a spirit—the outer man, and the inner man. As a child of God you are you because you are spirit, you are not you because you are not your flesh. Tragically, upon salvation many of God’s children begin their walks like the Corinthians—viewing themselves in the complete opposite of who they actually are. Those who are NOT children of God have a fallen flesh and fallen spirit that are connected & operate in perfect unison, as their flesh and spirit together make up who they are as a whole. But, the children of God on earth are living according to a different & magnificent reality. Jesus said to Nicodemus—unless one is born from above he has no power to see the kingdom of God…unless one is born out of water and out of the Spirit he has no power to enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (Jn 3:1-6). Now at that time Beloved, Nicodemus was powerless to understand the simple teaching of Jesus. But thanks to the true knowledge of Christ unveiled in the Epistles, God’s children are now powerful to understand! We are born into this world out of water in our flesh, and then, at salvation we are reborn into God’s kingdom out of His Spirit in our new spirit (born again, born from above, rebirthed). Though we WERE born in the flesh with fallen spirits connected to our fallen flesh, we NOW live according to a different & magnificent reality. “In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ” (Col 2:11). At salvation, your fallen flesh is cutoff from your fallen spirit, and your fallen spirit is immersed into Christ and done away with (crucified, buried). Then God births you forth a new perfect, righteous & separate spirit from His own Spirit, and your new spirit is placed into your fallen flesh (making you alive with Christ, having been raised together with Him). You didn’t see this happen, you just have to believe it happened. “Blessed are the ones who have not seen and have believed” (Jn 20:29). This cannot be over emphasized Beloved, as a child of God your new spirit exists separate from your flesh—you are no longer your flesh (Rm 8:9). Now again I say, you are spirit you are not your flesh! Your new spirit (who you are) is alive to God and dead to sin, and your flesh (who you are not) remains dead to God and alive to sin. If you believe the truth about your new self, you will be powerful to look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2Cr 4:18). Beloved, we are citizens of heaven because our inner man is being renewed day by day through the true knowledge of Christ, while our dead outer man continues to decay. “Though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness” (Rm 8:10). Since your true life is now hidden with Christ in God, may the word of Christ richly dwell within you so that you are powerful to present your dead body as though it were alive, which is your spiritual service of worship. Blessings.
