Our partners at the International Rhino Foundation have just shared some good news on the critically endangered Javan rhino population found in Indonesias Ujung Kulon National Park. A study this year recorded images of 58 (possibly as many as 61) individually identifiable rhinos, which is an increase from the estimated 44 rhinos previously thought to survive. Efforts to restore rhino habitat in the park’s Javan Rhino Study and Conservation Area have also proved successful with 10 rhinos now found in this previously uninhabited area.
