Our planned race events for 2014 wrapped up with a jam packed long weekend. We went to Lime Rock Park: The Road Racing Center of the East in Connecticut for the NARRAonline - North American Road Racing Association US Time Trials event took home 1st place in class and overall Friday despite a gear failure and turned a warmup lap Saturday which was enough to achieve the North Cup 2014 points championship in TTU (Time Trials Unlimited) class. We made the 7 hour tow back to Buffalo, got a few hours sleep and headed to Toronto Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada for the CSCS season finale. With the Unlimited AWD season championship already clinched and our road race Subaru Voltron wounded from the Lime Rock event we went just to support our customers competing. In house tuner/driver Mike turned a few laps in his daily driven STI and watched as his overall track record stood despite good track conditions mid day during qualifying. This marks back to back championships in CSCS top time attack class in 2 years running to match the back to back championships secured in CSCS drag racing competition with the drag car we built and tuned. Also at CSCS, Unlimited RWD class competitor Vince Strati in his Mild 2 Wild Racing built, Innovative Tuning tuned Nissan 240sx with Chevy LS2 engine qualified 1st in class. Then the skies opened up and soaked the track right before the time attack session. We brought Voltrons rain wheel and tire setup for Vince to use in case of rain and he put them to good use, wrestling his beast to keep it on track and taking home the win and season championship in class. The Innovative Tuning built and tuned 04 STI of customer Noel Sewpaul qualified second, just a hair out of first and was ready to push harder in the timed session. Unfortunately his power, grip and the nasty bumps in T1 at TMP conspired to take out a rear axle, hub and bearing before the time attack session. Its been a fantastic first season of lapping and time attack for Noel. He has put the car we built to great use and is picking up road course driving very quickly, already on the pace taking a second place finish at Mosport after being on a road course just a handful of times now. The R Division prepped, Innovative Tuning tuned Unlimited FWD class Civic SI of Tom Glogowski also ran in the rain and was able to secure a second place finish in treacherous conditions. After the event he said running in the rain was some of the most fun hes had on track. Also this in competition this weekend with NASA Rally Sport was Eric Wages and co driver Sarah Grenier Montplaisir in the Dirty Rallysport Open Class Subaru at Black River Stages. After some close calls and a monster jump which injured Eric, the whole crew pressed on to secure a second place overall finish at the event, their best ever there, and second place in the 2014 Championship. Innovative Tuning provided the engine and tuning that have kept this car running since 2013 after a series of engine failures prevented this great team from finishing events. As team leader Eric told us in 2013 when we discussed giving him a package that could finish events, when I finish, Im on the podium and hes shown everyone thats the case.
