Our problem in Canada is thus: Shared via Nicholas Kristof Commented: About a year ago I infuriated academia by arguing that professors, with a few exceptions such as economists, were largely irrelevant in public policy debates (that column is here: nytimes/…/kristof-professors-we-need-you.html ) Now Justin Wolfers--an economist, not surprisingly--underscores the point. Economists are increasingly cited, while sociologists, demographers and anthropologists, rarely. the upshot is that important knowledge just isnt brought to bear on government decision-making. Thoughts?
