Our proposed amendment for the 1955-vintage RA 1378 includes provision for every registered master plumber (no exception, BS graduate or not) to become plumbing engineer as soon as it is enacted into a new law... After its final approval by Malacanang, all that a current registered master plumber has to do is to register in the new log book for plumbing engineers by then at the PRC and secure his or her new PRC card as registered Plumbing Engineer. Adequate time will be provided for every RMP to accomplish this process. After which, the new Board of Plumbing Engineers (erstwhile BoMP) will then give two types of licensure examinations twice annually as usual - one for plumbing engineers (qualified BS graduates) and the other one for master plumbers (qualified non-BS graduates).. The new plumbing engineer by then will and can exercise full practice of his profession (design/sign/seal and/or supervise/in-charge of construction) while the (future) master plumber by then will and can only do supervision/in-charge of construction.. Let us all hope and pray for its smooth passage in Congress in time for the 2015 Asian Reciprocity, with our new God-given champion - the Honorable Karlo A. B. Nograles, assistant majority leader... Mabuhay ang mga mahigit sa 6,000 na plumbing professionals!
