Our sin NATURE makes us a slave to sin. We are carnal. Without a relationship with God, our Earthly passions are so strong that we come under control of our appetites and the influences of evil spirits. Being a slave to sin is a perplexing situation. A slave does what their master tells them to do, even though the slave does not want to do it. The slave desired to do other things, but the slave cannot do them. A slave ends us doing the things the he or she hates. As an acknowledged slave to sin you know what is good and you agree that it is good. The problem is that by yourself you do not have the power to break the bonds of sins. You are a slave to sin if you commit sin. When we sin, we are no longer a servant of God, but a servant of sin. John 8:34 advises us that whosoever commits sin is a servant of sin. Apart from Christ, you CANNOT avoid sin.
