Our society is a pleasant place. Those who are living in this society are sometime unpleasant. Sometimes they are very pleasant. Yet, we always hear unpleasant stories. All conventions are deteriorating in a country without law, order and discipline. Therefore, I don’t think it is unreasonable to say that the majority of people who are living in this society are unpleasant. Yet, in such environment, we rarely meet true men who will educate the society, the meaning of humanity. Now, I will introduce such a Noble person who is like God. Now, I will briefly mention the unknown side of the life of His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso because certainly, this society should be aware of such noble men. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso completed his 57th year on 2nd February 2014. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso shows his mercy to all destitute, poverty-stricken, to those who are begging on the streets and to the ones who have been neglected from the society. This affection he shows them did not started yesterday or today. It did not start during the period of 40 years of his Apostolic Life, which began on 7th February 1975. From the time of his childhood he was lending a helping hand to destitute, poverty- stricken and to those who are begging on the streets. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso was born to this world, 57 years ago, on 1st February 1957 at 12.00 midnight. Even though he was born to a wealthy family and was enjoying every comfort, yet, at the age of 8 he realized that due to poverty, there are people living in this society who are not enjoying even a little of the comforts he enjoys. We say this because those who know him well say that the Most Holy Apostle was highly concern about those who are begging on the streets and was helping them financially and providing them with food since 1965. Even today, as it was in the past, this Most Holy Apostle does not use devotees’ offerings for his survival. He utilizes the wealth that he has inherited from his wealthy parents for his survival. Yet, he is not keeping all his wealth for his comfort alone, but spends that wealth secretly, to uplift the lives of poverty-stricken, those who are begging on the streets and the ones who have been neglected from the society. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso never sends away a person who is begging on the streets empty handed if that person comes near his vehicle and stretches his hands for his help whenever his motor vehicle stops at a certain place. Therefore, certain people who are begging on the streets of Colombo have become his friends and whenever they see his vehicle they run to him with smiling faces as if a child runs to his father. The Most Holy Apostle does all these things instantly. Therefore, the Apostolic Media Unit was not able capture such happenings. Yet, they were able capture recent events. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso was spending a holiday in Nuwara Eliya from 6th to 8th November 2013. While he was spending his holiday in the Nuwara Eliya bungalow, a group of destitute came before him and related their plight to him. They told him that the education of their children have come to a standstill since they are unable to provide school books to their children due to financial difficulties. The Most Holy Apostle pensively listened to their lamentation without any religious differences and promised them that he will visit them once again before Christmas. Due to this promise, we knew that the Most Holy Apostle will visit these destitute before Christmas. Therefore, the Apostolic Media Unit was vigilantly anticipating his impending visit to Nuwara Eliya. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso did not forget his promise even though he was in the midst of a busy schedule since it was the time of Christmas. The Most Holy Apostle informed us to make arrangements for his visit on 17th & 18th December. Hence as per instructions given by the Director of Apostolic Media Networks, Mr. Manoj Chinthaka, the Apostolic Media Networks made camera equipment ready for the journey. The Apostle, who secretly visits the poor, could not make this journey secretly. The cameramen of the Apostolic Media Unit were behind him. Accordingly on 17th & 18th December 2013, the Most Holy Apostle not only took Rice, Noodles, Flour, Sugar, Tin Food, Infant Food, Chocolates, Toffees and Muskets but also took School Books and Stationery items which were bought out of his personal wealth and distributed them without any religious differences among the people who are working in the estates in Diyatalawa, Nanuoya & Nuwara Eliya. His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso has given a wonderful message to a society which is brushing its teeth to grab the things of others. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the society to study this message of Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso as a course.
