Our staff were presented with a challenge whilst at a mobile clinic in a new area recently when they were presented with a horse bleeding profusely from a wound on the foot caused by barbed wire. First they had to staunch the bleeding to see what they were dealing with and then when they saw what they were dealing with, they had to organise transport to take the horse back to our centre which was over two hours drive away. They worked late into the night, but the patient is apparently making good progress and has settled in well. Congratulations to our trekking team for rising to the challenge as there are no vets there at the moment and they had to rely on telephone advice from the UK.
