Our students in Rankuwa were violently attacked by State Security - TopicsExpress

Our students in Rankuwa were violently attacked by State Security Forces (SAPS) while protesting for Access to Education. When students become violent they are characterized to be hooligans and not greatful for being in tertiary but when management become violent we are expected to shout Amen. What happened to our University? A simple issue of Financial Support that require us to engage and act in the best interests of the students has now led to a war in the Institution. As a responsible leader, I call for calm and peaceful action. We wont turn against policemen and women whose children attend in the very University we are leading. We are fighting for the interests of their children and wont allow management shift our focus. Our comrades in Rankuwa shouldnt be provoked by this barbaric act informed by lack of reason but emotions. Lets not vandalize nor be violent in anyway because such acts will give management an ammunition to be more violent and evict students from Residences. The Central SRC also welcomes the message of support from NEHAWU. We wish the union can go beyond writing and call upon workers to picket in solidarity with students. This is a revolutionary act we will do when workers embark on a protest. God bless TUT and those who wish us no good.
