Our success and value in life are not based on any of these: level of production; financial worth; talent in sports, music, or academics; or anything else. What gives us true meaning in the vast, complex world in which we find ourselves is that the eternal One, the uncreated God, pursues us with passionate desire. This is what gives our lives meaning and power and makes us great. The Godhead pursues us throughout our lives, drawing us ever nearer to Him. He says, I want you! This is what confers eternal significance on us. Every other circumstance in life may be unstable, and though we mess up in so many diverse ways, we walk in grace before an audience of One successfully and are valued deeply simply because He longs for us and declares Himself the lover of our souls.
