Our thoughts and ardasa (prayers) are with the families, relatives and friends of all of the people, including the 132 innocent children, who lost there lives as a result of a horrific terrorist attack perpetrated by the Taliban, in Pakistan. Religious fundamentalism of any variety shall not be accepted. It has nothing to do with the religion in question. Religious fundamentalism is a guise used, mainly by, un-educated individuals to justify their ill-thought out actions in the name of a superior being. The inability to debate or engage in relation to such strongly held beliefs illustrates the extent to which these individuals have been brainwashed. Yet, the ability to murder innocent children in cold blood illustrates the barbarity of the perpetrators. More so, the events indicate that education is not only the solution to fundamentalism but also the reason why religious fundamentalists feel threatened. An educated populace will not bow-down to norms constructed by society or a fundamentalist group but will seek to find their own answers.
