Our time here at the Shriners childrens hospital is coming to an end. 1 more physio session tomorrow and the we say our goodbyes. Ive kind of been given a heads up that well be leaving with a lot of gifts...so...the next post will have those details. As youve probably seen, Caleb has progressed nicely over the last week. Hes as strong if not stronger than he was pre-surgery. But for me the biggest change is how comfortable he appears to be... Imagine not being able to really relax for more than five years. Im sure the people here will miss Caleb...rarely cranky, smiling to everyone...especially the ladies. He makes everyone else smile. But, everybody here makes him smile as well. The people here are special and they work here for a reason...if you come here with a knot in your face...not sure youll last working at the Shriners. I just want to mention a few people who made this experience awesome... To Denis and the rest of the kitchen guys...I ate well...and the kids did too. I mention Denis because the last stretch I was here, he would personally deliver all the meals to the kids, give them high 5s and a hug. Made it a point to know all of them and make them feel special. The cleaning crew...always smiley despite have a dirty job on occasions and a shout out to Nic who brought me a Tim Hortons each morning my last week here...the coffee here wasnt great and lets face it...Im a Tims addict. Thanks to all the volunteers and staff at child life who help moms and dads take a breather by entertaining the kids when they arent in therapy or school. To the Shriners members...helping out with drives into town, entertaining the kids, and fundraising so a hospital like this can exist. To doctor Farmer and his team, Corinne, Monica, Betty, the nursing team, and anyone else Ive missed. Thank you for providing exceptional service to my son Caleb, thank you for giving him this gift. Our promise to you is that we will give him a work ethic that will permit him to achieve results that were nothing more than a pipe dream 7 weeks ago. I believe that Caleb will surprise us all...he now has the tools to do that. Tomorrow we drive back home to Dieppe...but we will continue visiting until Caleb is discharged at 21 ( I believe its 21). I know hes in good hands here, so it will be a pleasure coming back. Well be posting unseen pics next week likely. Pictures from our good camera and probably another write up. After that, dont leave the blog. Well likely post monthly updates from home to keep you informed on his progress. Thanks to all of you for joining us on this journey...which has only just begun...
