Our version of Italian Easter bread involves layering hard-boiled eggs, sausage and sharp cheese in a loaf that is best eaten in a thick slice. Making the bread usually took up most of the morning on Good Friday -- and, since it included meat, you couldnt even think of eating it then. Linda and I learned to stay up just past midnite to cut into it on Saturday. Crazy as it sounds, I always associate the first taste of Easter bread with watching Houlihan & Big Chuck on Channel 8.
