Our very first completed Shi cover to arrive back to the Vet Tix - TopicsExpress

Our very first completed Shi cover to arrive back to the Vet Tix offices...this one is a study in history. Darron J. Jackson (DJ) really stepped it up with this stunning cover just for the SHI - Way of the Warrior Artist Project benefiting Vet Tix. All of us here at Veteran Tickets Foundation (VetTix) love this cover!! Below is what each portion of the cover represents in DJs own words: 1) SHI dressed in a dress with pink Cherry Blossoms (honoring the Japanese giving the United States these trees as a sign of peace). 2) The Tuskegee Airmen walking towards with their plane the P-51 Mustang. (We know their story) 3) On the back of the book we have the men of the Redball Express, these were the men that kept General Pattons tank moving throughout WWII. They were also one of the most highly decorated non combatant supply units in the war and were comprised mostly of black soldiers. 4) At the bottom and faded into SHI herself is the WWII Memorial here in Washington, DC honoring those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This is done in various shades of purple. Purple has historically been used for royalty but most importantly the color is used for the militarys Purple Heart medal of honor. I thought it only fitting. 5) Last but not least is a quote taken from the walls of the WWII memorial that sums it all up for those that died in WW1,2, the Korean War, Vietnam War and every battle or war since. 6) Lastly, the name on the planes nose is to honor my brother and uncles who all served. My grandmother called them Pegyz Boyz because they gravitated towards my mom, Peggy. :) Beautiful cover DJ, thank you for creating this for our project...know this will help raise funds to grant our Heros Wishes and is a fantastic addition to help celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Shi, Way of the Warrior!!
