This is the bitter reality and its really ugly. If we continue to be intimidated by those who tell us to be quiet because Canada is giving you your rights as Muslims and because our corrupt governments plaguing Muslim-majority countries are worse than the Canadian government, then we will essentially remain as ineffective communities, or as the prophet (pbuh) foretold, like the foam of the sea. Yes, Canada is sending humanitarian aid to burma: international.gc.ca/media/dev/news-communiques/2013/06/8b.aspx?lang=eng But they are not treating this like ethnic cleansing massacre against Rohingya. The official position is that there are just violent communal clashes and conflict, which implies that there are two communities fighting without any design from the Burmese government which is plainly and utterly false. The worse part is that this ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya has actually been happening for DECADES. Were talking about a co-coordinated genocide with mass graves and unimaginable levels of torture. This needs to change and this is one of our tests as a Muslim community here that we keep failing at unfortunately. If in our actions and our choice of campaigns, we value the blood of Muslims from other regions more than the blood of Rohingya Muslims, then this is a failure on our part and it is something we should seriously do some soul-searching about.
