Our veterans have given so much to all of us. It is right that we stand by then and recognise that medals should not simply be awarded in recognition of specific campaigns or operations but for a record of their service as well. Indeed, all our veterans have given our country a gallant, outstanding service. Special note to the National Defence Medal Campaign activists who have done an inestimable and unstinting job in promoting this cause.
