Our volunteer of the week is Tommy Fox. Tommy is a quiet and unassuming guy. If you didnt get to know him you might not know the man of God he is who exudes character and a servants heart for all he meets. The reason the spotlight is on him is because of a particular instance that happened to highlight his servants heart more so than usual, but hes probably been overdue for a while now, being that he volunteers for the youth as a part of the leadership team, a life group leader, tech team leader, The Bridge class teacher, altar worker, ultimate frisbee leader, trip chaperon, set up and tear down volunteer, and pretty much anything else you need him to do. Hes also involved in serving at West on the weekends and is a part of the college ministry that meets on Tuesdays. I cant even tell you everything Tommy does, because hes just the kind of guy that, if you need him, hes there. Hes outstanding and we would not be the same without him. But what is that particular act of servanthood that propelled him into the spotlight, you ask? I can scarcely bring myself to tell you (and rob him of his eternal rewards), but it was when a cat chose to make its final resting place outside of our churchs office entrance. It was not long before our feline friend was discovered, although it was not through conventional means! Oh no--this animal was discovered by the stench that permeated the office wing of our church. And when several office members were called upon but unable to deal with the stinging miasma (I, Matt Hagsten, will here gladly insert my name as one of them. This thing was rancid), Tommy hefted a shovel and stepped up to the plate. Or the cat, as it were. Thank you Tommy Fox for your selflessness and willingness to serve. You go the extra mile in all you do, and Christ is evident in your actions. Were thankful for you!
