Our weekly game saw fifteen players turn out to compete in what - TopicsExpress

Our weekly game saw fifteen players turn out to compete in what this time was a very hard fought battle. Returning for the first time in a considerable period of time was one of our old friends Grant who brought his brother Jack along for a game. Grant sporting a new improved haircut was not the crazy Grant of old and played what can only be called a steady and considered game surprising us all. The early action, as always, was pretty slow and the only notable action prior to our first break saw Alec make a full house only to lose a large portion of his chips to Grant with a higher full house. On the other table Scott Wright lost a lot of his chips running a bluff against Stelios Paphitis after he chased and missed a flush draw. Once the first break was reached all fifteen players were still involved. Once the break was completed the action speeded up as the blinds rose. We then saw two eliminations before dinner was taken at 9.30pm. These eliminations were on the other table to me so I didnt see what happened but Kelvin was the first one out this week, followed swiftly by the short stacked Scott. On the second table Alec was performing miracles to survive and built his last 400 chips back into a healthy stack of 5000. Once dinner was reached he and twelve others were still in the hunt for the title. After dinner the increases in the blinds began to bite and a number of bustouts occurred pretty quickly as a number of players found themselves short on chips. Firstly Darran Medhurst was taken from the game when his pocket 5s were beaten by Jay Tank holding pocket 8s. Then the short stacked Stavros Paphitis was knocked out by Will when his AQ failed to hit against pocket Jacks. Alec who had hung around on a short stack for almost two hours left the game in 11th place, which considering the position he was in early in the game was a great result for him. The final two eliminations prior to this weeks final table saw firstly Stelios and then Grant taken out. Grant in particular was very very unlucky getting all his chips in with pocket Kings and finding a caller in Jay with AT. A sick flop of TT3 sent Jay to the front and when a King failed to come Grants night was finished. This weeks final table started late and began with very high blinds. Almost everyone was seemingly short stacked despite one or two people holding what looked like healthy stacks. Glenn Beere was the first person to be removed from this final table when he lost with a straight to Jay with the nut flush. He was quickly followed by Sharyn Chivers who was forced all in from the big blind and failed to hit any of the board cards. Eugenia Phkhakadze quickly became our 6th place finisher when her pocket 3s ran into Jack with pocket Aces. 5th place was taken by Stuart Knight who was also short stacked and forced all in before being eliminated. The money bubble was now upon us and this unfortunate honour eventually went to Jack who played a number of smallish pots all of which he lost before being eliminated by Antonis Kollias. This left us with this weeks final 3 of Jay, Antonis and Will. Due to the high blinds it was always going to be about who was going to be the luckiest. Unfortunately for Antonis it wasnt him as he got all his money in with A9 against Will with A2 only to see the flop come AA2 sending him out in 3rd place. This piece of luck for Will left him with a massive chip lead over Jay going into the heads up battle. This only took 2 hands this week as Jay was force to go all in from the big blind with the last of his chips before he had even looked at his cards. When the cards were tabled Will held J2 and Jay 82. The first card on the board was a Jack and ended Jays night there and then. Leaving Will as this week winner. Congratulations this week go to Will on his victory and he became the 8th different player to win a game this season in the 8 weeks we have been playing. See you all next week.
