Our whats your diagnosis from yesterday was a foal with bilateral carpal valgus, meaning angular deviation away from the body. In the picture, the left is obviously worse than the right. Angular limb deformities are very common in foals, however this particular foal has a severe case of left carpal valgus due to incomplete ossification of the carpal bones diagnosed via radiographs. Most angular limb deformities can be corrected by placing screws in growth plates, to allow the slower side to catch up to the faster growing side, and then removing screws once the leg is straight. With more severe cases such as this one, sometimes splinting the leg is required.
