Our wonderful Professor Sarah Lantz, one of Australias most respected Professors shares why she feels certified organic is so important in the attached video. Here is her abstract that Therese Kerr shares at all of my events as she feels it is so very powerful and something everyone should know. This abstract is the summary of a report Professor Sarah Lantz did in her research on the chemicals used in our everyday products and the results of the testing she personally undertook on the chemicals found in the umbilical cords of babies. J Public Health Policy. 2013 Nov;34(4):502-14. doi: 10.1057/jphp.2013.26. Epub 2013 Jun 20. Protecting children from toxic chemicals: putting it on Australias public health agenda. Lantz S. Abstract The high volume and widespread use of industrial chemicals, the backlog of internationally untested chemicals, the uptake of synthetic chemicals found in babies in utero, cord blood, and in breast milk, and the lack of a unified and comprehensive regulatory framework all necessitate developing policies that protect the most vulnerable in our society - our children. Australias failure to do so raises profound intergenerational ethical issues. This article tells a story of international policy, and where Australia is falling down. It demonstrates that we can learn from countries already taking critical steps to reduce the toxic chemical exposure, and that the development of a comprehensive, child-centered chemical regulation framework is central to turning around Australias failure.
