Out Of My Mind Melodys Wide Awake Music Video Under the direction of our dynamic librarian, Kelly Spector, NEW Academy Canoga Parks One School One Book Program has partnered with the United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles (UPC) to fully explore the journey of someone who has cerebral palsy, like Melody, in Out Of My Mind. Our students interacted and interpreted the book through various mediums, which included the arts. Students also sold their Halloween candy to Dentist Rubin at Calabasas Dental Institute and raised $1068 for the UPC to help people like Melody. On December 12th, Sharon Draper, the award winning author of Out of My Mind visited our school and heard the debut of Melodys Out of My Mind;. She also observed book-inspired paintings from our 4th and 5th graders. The art supplies were donated by the generous donors through Donorschoose.org.
