Out On The Pike Saturday, December 20, 2014. ALERT! FOUR SHOPPING DAYS LEFT FOR CHRISTMAS! If you were a cat you would probably wake your owner in the morning like a typical cat and sit near your humans head and touch their face to get their attention. There are two things wrong with what Ive said; One; you are not a cat; And two; there is not such thing as a “typical cat.” But if you were Gawain you would sit on your owners chest and take turns slapping their face back and forth while singing to them as your brother chewed on their hair and stomped up and down on your humans body. That friends, is exactly what they did. I guess I could thank them for letting me sleep until six twenty-one this morning if we hadnt gone to bed at close to midnight. After stopping two cat squabbles I started dishing out the cats breakfast, stopped briefly to break up another argument, and finally got all of their dishes set in front of them without shedding one single drop of blood. Then I made my way to the kitchen to fire up the locomotive that makes our coffee in the morning. I managed to do that in an upright position through the entire procedure with nary a single wobble. Wobble; remember those toys called “Weebles?” The advertisement went; Weebles wobble, but they dont fall down? Hold your hand up if youre like that. I see your hand Kathy. Just make an “X” in the comments if youre one of us. With coffee and in hand I made it safely to our computer desk. Its Millstones Foglifter, it;s hot, black, and good. The dogs, and all the rest of the people in the house, are sleeping. Elijah is with us for the weekend and we will be celebrating his Christmas today I think. He is sleeping about fifteen feet away from me so like Porky the Pig says, “Be vewy, vewy quiet.” With their bellies full most of the cats have gone back to sleep. That is except for the two who are hurtling through the house playing chase. Sigh. The agenda for the day looks like this; doing the routine and spending a lot of time with the four of us here at the house. I dont think any of us have any plans to go anywhere unless Mike takes Eli out somewhere. Mary and I need to visit some friends sometime soon. I suspect that think that we are angry with them or something but its nothing of the sort; Marys a homebody and I think Ive becoming one from many good years of associations. Since Im passing another small kidney stone I dont feel like going anywhere. Mary is still reading James Pattersons Alex Archer series of mysteries. She is now taking a break and reading a book Mike brought home from the library for her. Its a bunch of mystery short stories. He brought me a short graphic novel about the sci-fi television series (too short lived) “Firefly.” The novel bridges the gap between the last episode and the movie “Serenity.” Great art. I havent finished the story yet but it wont take long today. Its time for another cup of coffee, something to much on, and find some music. Elijah is up to keep me company. So far he is refusing to eat breakfast and grandpa needs to convince him that breakfast is important. It may be awhile before I get music posted today, if I get to post it at all! Peace, love, and blessings people! namaste
