Out of curiosity does anyone know whether spaying can stop mammary tumors in their tracks particularly with older ladies. The reason I ask is that I had an oops litter 3 years ago (end of Feb) and I keeps all bar 4 babies. Im now sadly down to my last four all of which girls and having recently lost one of my girls who had an incredibly large tumor and another girl with 3 in early stages I would like to prevent these getting worse or my other girls from getting them. From what I gather it is hereditary so likely the others will be affected. Im aware of the risks of surgery so late in the game but my options are removal or leave them it seems. So if surgery is the options presented is it not worth spaying if it helps rather than removal of the tumor. For the record all my girls are little warriors so Im pretty sure they would go through surgery with no problems.
