Out of interest, how many of you who listened to the radio interview have given any thought to Philips suggestion of an alternative link up on the Battersby line to Picton? Still 6 miles, but most of the track bed is still there, with less obstacles in the way, it would benefit other towns such as Stokesley. Without the extra engineering works needed to double the NYMR line, get through Pickering, add all the bridges that are needed etc. Giving similar journey times to your proposed route, which at the end of the day is the objective isnt it? quicker journey times to York.
