Outbreak of suspected Chikungunya and Earthquake warnings for tonight... The radio has been issuing warnings of a possible earthquake in Haiti tonight, so please keep this matter in your prayers. Our sick kiddos are increasing. We had 3 recover enough to go thru last night without meds and no fever, so those 3 returned to the boys and ER homes. More sick children were brought to me today. We are currently medicating 20 kids with symptoms of fevers, headaches, joint pain, stomach pain for a couple, and a few other symptoms. We also have 4 staff members off work and sick. Dr. John Carroll has been consulting with me for the past couple days. He is a cardiologist who has partnered with us for about 10 years, and he is also an adoptive parent of Luke. He flew to Haiti yesterday to transport a little girl to the US for heart surgery this weekend, but he is also consulting on all of our cases. Today he was in the ER of one of the Haitian hospitals and getting information on local protocols for treatment, but he is mainly communicating with the CDC on our behalf and keeping us up to date on recommended treatment. So thankful for Gods provision of wisdom in dealing with this new disease in Haiti! Kids and staff are responding well to treatment, and healthy staff are being very supportive in helping care for the children. Even our healthy girls are helping with routine tasks of bringing kids and babies for temps, meds, etc. Older boys have been helping clean up after meals, etc. Hosting an extra 20 kids for meals on the balcony is going much smoother that I anticipated! So thankful for the many blessings we see in these circumstances! I have even had a few kids hoping to get sick to join the hospital slumber party in the living room! Tonight we had too many kids to sleep upstairs, so we moved the girls to the TV room downstairs. Meds are set up for the night, so Antonyse and Marie Claude will distribute the 2AM meds so that I can sleep :) Thanks for all of your prayers!!! I do not want to post the names of all of the sick kids, but ask that you would be praying for each of the sickies as if it were your own child. Tonight, Louis Marie, Derline, and Youvena are happy to be sleeping in their own beds now that they are in the recovery stage. Thanks for your continuing prayers for HIS Home!!! Blessings!
