Outlaws edge Porum 28-16 By LARRY OWEN Times sports editor WELEETKA - The Weleetka Outlaws earned their first district win this past Friday night with a 28-16 decision over the Porum Panthers. The win was also the first for the Outlaws in 2013, improving Weleetka’s season record to 1-2 after three games. Next up for the Weleetka squad will be a trip to Davenport this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Outlaws opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 28-yard pass play from senior QB Shaun Bencoma to Jamie Harjo. Bencoma then ran in the conversion to give Weleetka the 8-0 advantage. Charles Marshall would record the second Outlaw score of the contest, plowing his way across the goal line from two yards out in the second quarter. Bencoma once again scored the conversion to double the Weleetka lead to 16-0 at halftime. Bencoma then found Kyle Young on a 17-yard pass in the third quarter to increase the Outlaw lead to 22-0 after three periods of action. Porum would finally get on the scoreboard with a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter, while Bencoma would put the finishing touches on the Weleetka scoring with a 12-yard QB keeper later in the frame.
