We can close the door to the enemy by telling the truth to everyone. Ephesians 4:21-25 (NLT) 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. Ephesians 4:15 (NLT) 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 2. We can close the door to the enemy by controlling our anger. We can close the door to the enemy by stopping our stealing. Ephesians 4:28 (NLT) 28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 1 Timothy 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Malachi 3:8-10 (NKJV) 8 Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, In what way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this, Says the LORD of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 4. We can close the door to the enemy by closing our mouths. Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV) 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Proverbs 6:2 (NKJV) 2 You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth. Proverbs 18:21 (NLT) 21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:6-7 (NKJV) 6 A fools lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows. 7 A fools mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul. 1 Corinthians 14:26 (NKJV) 26 How is it then, brethren? We can close the door to the enemy by listening to Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT) 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
