Over 10 years ago when my Dad was the Elem. Counselor at Ider he started a program called the SS/Kids. This program was where a group of 6th grade students took regular field trips to a nursing home. Well, today we started this program back up. We took 17 6th grade students to Willscreek Village assisted living. I have been on many fun & interesting field trips but none as touching as this one. Our students could not have been better. They were so nervous before we went in but once they started talking with the elderly men & women they really got into it. Each student talked to everyone there & they were so polite & well mannered. It was a great & touching experience. I was so proud of our students & their willingness to get out of their comfort zone & meet & send some cheer & smiles to the sweet senior citizens we met today. I think we all look forward to going back.
