Over 2 years ago, I introduced a bill to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), a crucial program that allows basically any private entity (businesses, universities, hospitals- the essential services that create jobs and drive our economy) to obtain insurance against the risk of terrorism and operate in prime targets like New York City. Without this act, these industries and services would have to close or leave New York because the cost of terrorism insurance would be astronomical. Im pleased that that after over 2 years of working across the aisle, the House passed the TRIA reauthorization last week by a major bipartisan vote of 417-7! This is great news for our national economy and for the great city we call home!
