Over 3 weken is het ANGEL ART FESTIVAL! Met een prachtig programma vol met muziek, theater, dans, kunst en natuur. Zoals bijvoorbeeld MARIA LA SERRANA - FLAMENCO, uit Sevilla. Maria La Serrana is a flamenco dancer who distinguishes herself on stage by her strength and elegance. In the first stage of her career, she studied with Matilde Coral a renowned dancer who taught the women of Seville her elegant and personal way of dancing flamenco. Later, to get a better understanding of the roots and soul of flamenco, she danced with Manolete, Manuela Carrasco and Carmelilla Montoya; all famous gypsy dancers from renowned flamenco families. There she learned a way of dancing to interpret the cante. Her style blossomed to its fullest however, when she began studying with the Farruco family, especially with Farruquito, who is the head of the youngest generation of one of the longest revered gypsy dynasties from Seville. La Serrana studied with him during nine years. In a way, La Serrana owes her style to him. Since 1997 La Serrana has performed and has given classes all over Spain, Europe and the United States. In 1999 she opened the doors of her own academy in Seville. She is a very passionate teacher who tries to transmit the virtues of both technique and improvisation and one’s own feelings while dancing, things that nowadays we tend to forget. Her own company is formed by celebraties such as Juan José Amador, Pepe de Pura, Jeromo Segura (winner of the Lámpara Minera 2013), Jesús Corbacho and Javier Rivera (voice), Luis Amador and Juan Campallo (guitar) and Antonio Molina “ Choro” (dance) In Spain La Serrana worked in peñas, tablaos and festivals. (For example the flamencofestival of Motilla-Moriles, in the Carbonería and twice in the program of Miércoles a Compás at the Monestary of Cartuja) and la Casa de la Memoria. Currently she is one of the owners of the flamenco bodega: Esencia, vinos y arte in the province of Seville. Internationally she danced with her own company at the Festival de flamenco la Haya in the Lucent Danstheater (twice), the First Irish Flamenco Festival, the festivals of Esch sur Alzette (Luxemburg)in 2012 and the flamenco festival of Düsseldorf in 2013 (Germany). La Serrana has choreographed and starred in six major Flamenco productions. The first is called “Volver a Tiempos Perdidos” (back to ancient times), In this show La Serrana, four dancers, two singers and two guitarists emulate old styles of dancing and singing, styles that have almost been forgotten. “Volver a Tiempos Perdidos” not only has great historical value, but also strong and sensitive, beautifull and colourful flamenco. After this she made “Peña Flamenca and Bandera Flamenca. Both performances are still on stage. In 2012 she went on tour with Ida y Vuelta, in which she will work with Juan José Amador (senior) Javier Rivera, Jeromo Segura, Luis Amador, Juan Campallo, Paco Iglesias and Antonio Molina el Choro. In this show she shared her knowledge with foreign dancers, to make a joint production. In november 2012 and october 2013 she did a very small, but unique peformance in France, Spain, Belgium and Holland, called Esenciain which the only singer will be Juan José Amador, especially for small theatres. The show was a great succes. In 2013 she was one of the five solist dancers in the performannce Respiro Flamenco, in which she shared the stage with Carmen Ledesma, Rafael Campallo, David Pérez, Antonio Molina el Choro , mercedes de Córdoba and Ana Morales. Shows in the festivals of Bruges and Düsseldorf were sold out two weeks in advance. on the 2nd of october of 2013, Respiro flamenco had its national premiére, at the I Muestra de Flamenco de Sevilla.
