Over 40,000 people live in Barzeh, a Damascus suburb that has seen intense fighting in recent months. People are struggling to get by, with food, water and health care hard to find. And they’re making tremendous efforts to rebuild the areas where they live. We’ve been working with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) to renovate a building that will become the Adnan al Marasawani Clinic, serving the entire population of Barzeh and that of nearby Esh Al Warwar. In the same area, the SARC has built a new warehouse to store food and other aid for rapid distribution to over 50,000 people. Also in Barzeh, the Saadallah Wannus shelter now houses over 60 families, and provides food, water and other aid to people who fled their homes because of the intense fighting.
