Over 4800 Walmart stores in the USA, and they probably average - TopicsExpress

Over 4800 Walmart stores in the USA, and they probably average around an 8-10 acre footprint. Over half of Walmart stores are outside the country. So about 45,000 acres of Walmarts, and 2,900 acres of rockland pine forest habitat in the World... but Walmart needs another one?... HERE? The U of Miami had one of the finest marine biology schools in the country... and when I was there (early 60s) the rest of the nature sciences- botany, zoology, etc- were VERY well represented. What happened? Cant the University PROTECT this ENTIRE habitat and gather what cash they think they need from alumni, etc? This is something that goes on where I live- Washington State- where school funding relies on resource extraction- ie cutting down forests on State land, leasing valuable wildlife habitat to cattlemen, grape growers, etc. It doesnt speak well of the ethical concerns of an educated populace who have to trash the place to build & maintain schools. ^..^
