Over 70 stakeholders from Civil Society Organisations in Fiji attended an information session on the latest EU Call for Proposals for Strengthening Civil Society in Promoting Human Rights and Development in Fiji. The European Union has provided more than €6,000,000 (FJ$14,000,000) to civil society organisations in Fiji over the past three years alone. This is in addition to funding for regional programmes which have benefitted civil society groups in Fiji. The partnership between the European Union and civil society in Fiji has indeed many success stories of which to be proud. These cover multiple thematic areas, from supporting rural livelihoods and Fiji’s sugar sector to womens rights, elections and democracy-related projects. With a total budget of €2,440,000 (FJ$5,7 mil), our aim is to support your aspirations in bettering governance and accountability in Fiji; in consolidating democracy, human rights, access to justice and achieving inclusive and sustainable growth, European Union Ambassador Andrew Jacobs said. #Development #HumanRights #EYD2015 Download the Call for Proposal Guidelines here: eeas.europa.eu/delegations/fiji/press_corner/all_news/news/2014/20141205_01_en.htm
