Over a year ago, we wrote this pierce; not out of boredom, not as an intellectual exhibition or a showcase to demonstrate our arrogance or discontent for the ruling establishment in Liberia; instead we were envisioning the inevitable, the probability of a disaster, and outbreak into our country, Liberia. Sadly, in the wake of our skepticisms, and fear , the message fell through the cracks and as of today, we have a full blown disaster on our hands, the deadly Ebola virus. Until the outbreak of this tragedy, there wouldnt have been an Emergency Response in Place to deal with urgency. When the news of the deadly Ebola virus broke, there was an outright denial by our authorities, our borders and point of entry were left unsecured, as a result containing the virus was a futile effort. There was no emergency management in place, and the human toll skyrocketed. As of today, bodies are left unclaimed in the principal streets, other buried in shallow graves or thrown into rivers and creeks. Just yesterday a call center was established in Monrovia; whether the call center will be effective for those in the rural areas and hinterland , remains to be seen. In all certainty, the failure of this government is resounding, cant afford to be a retroactive administration.
