Over in London, theres a group of gamers called the Megagame Makers, who make giant wargames involving dozens of people that take an entire day to play out. I recently found out about a game they ran called Watch the Skies, where teams of four represent nations on Earth as an alien threat invades. They have to mobilize troops, research alien tech, and manage their nations while negotiating with each other. Heres a video of one of the games. Its long, but just watch for a few minutes and youll likely find, as I did, that you cant stop watching: shutupandsitdown/videos/v/susd-play-megagame/ I would like to make a game like this happen in Charlotte and I would like to know how many other people would be interested as well. The game requires a good deal of participants, with seven human nations with four people each, a team for the aliens, and a slew of people just moderating the game, arbitrating conflicts and dice rolls, and writing the news reports. But if enough people are interested, we can probably make this happen.
