Over lunch, my Iranian colleague Arvin and I were discussing life in America and Iran. (EVERYONE outside of America hates American politics/ foreign policy and thinks the average American is slow.) Arvin was saying in Iran the women are extremely valuable and held in the highest regard. He says men are raised to support their families (nuclear and extended) and support the women in society whether they be family or not. He listed the following as examples: If a woman is working late and a male is working late too, he drives her home. If a woman is carrying bags a male carries them for her to her home. If a woman is standing on the train the man offers his seat. He said if I moved there and lived alone they would lower my rent. If a female family member is in school on a limited income the males in the family provide financial support. He then asked me what do Americans value? What is it WE take pride in? And off top I thought money but I came with some bullshit about being the best. How our competitive nature drives innovation and sets the standard for others in the world. And I realise I bullshitted around the question. LOL! Sooooooo....how would you guys have responded? What DO we value? Ive been painting beautiful pics of America for 2yrs. I have no more space on the canvas.
