Over the coming days, OPSEU-Support members may hold information - TopicsExpress

Over the coming days, OPSEU-Support members may hold information picket lines to distribute materials related to their ongoing negotiations with Canadian Blood Services at some of our Ontario locations and mobile clinic sites. These are not strike picket lines and you should expect to be able to come and go to your workplace without difficulty. Peaceful information pickets conducted outside the workplace on public property are legal and not uncommon during collective bargaining, even if employees are not on strike. Unions have the right to share information, while employees and the public have the right to refrain from speaking to those at the pickets. These information pickets may cause some delay in accessing your workplace and for donors attending our clinics. If you receive questions from donors or the public, you are encouraged to share the following information: • We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this picket may have caused you. • One of the unions representing some of Canadian Blood Services’ employees is currently in a strike position. • We have talks scheduled in early January and will continue to negotiate with OPSEU-Support with the goal of reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement. • Thank you for your continued support. Negotiations will resume January 5th and we will keep employees informed of all progress. If you have any concerns, please contact your manager. Managers should ensure that their human resources business partner is notified if there is a picket outside of the building. Also, please contact the communications department ([email protected] or 1-877-709-7773) immediately, so that we can address the media and others, as appropriate.
