Over the coming weeks the lamp posts on Markham and Stouffville Main Streets will be adorned with the names and faces of local soldiers who gave their lives in World War One. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, my office has created the WWI: Remembering Our Fallen campaign. Markham and Stouffville residents will be able to gaze up as they walk our Main Streets and remember the great sacrifices of those brave Canadians who gave their lives fighting for our country. Take a moment, stop, and remember the ultimate sacrifice that so many of the brave men and women of our armed forces have made in defence of our freedom.
