Over the coming weeks you will begin to see some significant changes to SmileDial New Zealand Incorporated. The SmileDial Board is currently discussing these changes and we will be making announcements very soon. We want to get SmileDial back to the basics and concentrate on what SmileDial was initially set up to do Support Kiwi Families Raising Kids With Special Needs rather than becoming a place where people came only as a source of free stuff. We will of course continue to provide support but this will aimed at kids and families facing huge daily struggles and we will offer support that will provide a long term benefit to the child or family. The first change has already taken place and that is the creation of a new page that provides a community of support for families. This page is where people can come for support from others facing similar challenges, talk openly and interact directly with other members. I created SmileDial because as I sat in NICU with my child I wanted to talk to someone, not a doctor or social worker but someone who knew what I was feeling (really knew). SmileDial was never meant to be a place where people came to only get something, it is a place where you can also give by supporting each other. You will also see a lot more opportunities for our SmileDial community to meet each other through social events all over New Zealand.
