Over the course of the past few months I have slowly started to lose my love for photography. It took me a while to realize exactly what the problem was; Im a nice person and people were taking advantage of that. Thats partially my fault for allowing it to happen. After speaking with one of my biggest supporters, she helped me realize that things needed to change in order for me to find that love again. I cant let people take advantage of me; Im here to run a business. Most of you do know that I do have a FULLTIME JOB other than photography.. I work at FedEx Monday-Friday and I go to drill once a month (and two weeks in the summer). Photography isnt my FULLTIME job. With this being said, expect the following changes in 2015. All photo sessions will come with a contract that WILL be SIGNED by the client. A $25.00 non-refundable deposit will be due to hold your date. The total amount due will be paid the date of YOUR SESSION. I had so many problems with people not sending their payment after they received their photos as well. The turn around time for editing photos is a MINIMUM of two weeks. I do work FULLTIME elsewhere and I dont have the luxury of sitting at home editing ALL DAY. I came across so many people who would get upset that there photos werent ready a few days after their session or expected them a day later. It was truly aggravating especially when the fall season hit. Another huge problem was cancellations... people were blowing me off and not even calling or texting. If I take my time to meet you somewhere, it is pretty RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL for you to just not show up. If I tell you how much a session is, dont try to talk me down in price when its already a good deal. I dont charge a lot as it is, and this year I have lost money rather than gained. Any session further than 20 miles will have ADDITIONAL TRAVEL COSTS that will be determined based upon location. Im not trying to belittle my clients or talk bad; Im just trying to run my business. The things I have stated in this status are the truth; imagine yourself in my shoes and the frustration Ive had over the past few months.
