Over the last couple weeks, Ive gotten two messages from lake monster purchasers who opened their boxes to find that the canisters had cracked! I package the things pretty well, and the people told me the boxes didnt even look seriously damaged, so I was scratching my head over this (Luckily, its something I can usually fix/replace, but still, wtf.) I think I finally realized what the deal is: The lids are so tight that when these things travel by plane, theres nowhere for the internal pressure to go. You know, its like when your bottle of shampoo pops open in your suitcase. Except instead of popping open, the acrylic splits. So heres the fix: Im not going to package them with the lids already assembled anymore. Ill include the lid, and when the recipient gets their lake monster, all they have to do is pop the lid on. No more cracks! (knock on wood)
