Over the many years we keep hearing that our Carnival acts as a release valve for the citizens. This may have been so when our portrayals depicted especially parts of history or events which portrayed memories of beauty gone by. I am left to wonder now, is our Carnival a portrayal of suchlike activities? It is to be noted that our present Carnival, while considered a masquerade, is it not a baring of true emotions of which we are failing to recognize? Are we failing to understand that release which we have accepted in the past now portray an internal anger which may very well be the converse of what we were to what we can become. Is our Carnival not an outlet any longer but the building up of that inner anger which finds an outlet in violent behaviour since we find A Carnival insufficient in dissipating that simmering anger within us. ......alvin
